Short, plain-language definitions of the terms used across Extraordinarz.
- Architectural height
- The height of a building measured to its architectural top, including spires but excluding antennas, signage and flagpoles; the CTBUH standard for ranking skyscrapers.
- As-of date
- The date a record's figure was verified; records change, so every value on the site carries one to show how current it is.
- Astronomical unit
- The average distance from the Earth to the Sun, about 150 million kilometres, used to measure distances within and just beyond the Solar System.
- Challenger Deep
- The deepest known point in the ocean, at the southern end of the Mariana Trench in the Pacific, about 10,935 m below sea level.
- Interstellar space
- The region beyond the heliopause where the Sun's magnetic bubble ends; Voyager 1 became the first human-made object to enter it in 2012.
- Rh-null
- A blood type lacking every antigen of the Rh system; the rarest known human blood type, sometimes called "golden blood."
